Safety is at the forefront of everything we do. Providing a working environment which is safe and
healthy for all employees and those affected by our activities is the main priority for Spence.
We have a well-established HSQE Department which ensures the highest standards are achieved through a thorough
monitoring procedure of all our operations.
Our Health & Safety Policy is communicated to every single one of our employees, as is the distribution
of best practice procedures and Spence actively participates in several industry led H&S initiatives.
In addition regular, in house awareness training is carried out for all staff & operatives, together with
out-sourced specialist courses to complement our comprehensive training programme.
To maintain our aim towards continued excellence, the Spence system is not only robust and effective, but is
continually developed and improved to reflect the changing diversity within the company. This is evolved by a two-way flow of
information, focus meetings and regular annual review of all existing and new policies for compliance, by the Senior Management
team who hold overall responsibility for HSQE within the company.
Our integrated Health & Safety standard has been accredited with OHSAS 18001: 2007. This ensures Spence
can achieve a high level of performance in design, construction and maintain the health and welfare of all involved with our
projects.
Our commitment to the development of our staff training is highlighted in our support of the Construction
Skills Certificate Scheme (CSCS): all staff and workforce alike holding cards to reflect their experience and qualifications.
We believe this emphasis placed on Health & Safety benefits not only our staff but also everyone involved
in our operations.
